PIERCE CALDWELL
 
Elected in his first year of eligibility (five years past last playing season) Pierce Caldwell is all over the UIW basketball record book.  And his honors and recognitions during his time on campus are lengthy.  He played from 2006 through 2010.
 
Over those four years UIW was a cumulative 81-36 including 41-13 in conference play.  His teams won two conference titles, two conference tournaments and played in two NCAA Division II regional tournaments.
 
Twice he was a Division II Bulletin All-American along with being All-America by d2basketball.com.  Twice he was Daktronics All-Region, and three times he was the Heartland Conference Player of the Year.  Both times the Cardinals won the conference tournament he was the MVP.  He was all-conference three times, freshman of the year in 2006-2007 and seven times he was the league’s player of the week.
 
He is number one for career 3-point field goals (360), 3-point field goals attempted (842), and consecutive free throws made (61).  On the career charts he is number two for points (1,873), free throws made (359) free throw percentage (.873).  He is third in field goals (577), 3-point field goal percentage (.428).  And he continues fourth in assists (280).
 
In single season records he is first through fourth in 3-point field goals (high of 97 in 2009) and first through fourth in 3-point field goals attempted (high of 229 in 2010).  In a single game he set records with 10 3-point field goals and in a separate game 15 3-point field goal attempts.
 
After receiving his bachelor’s degree in kinesiology in 2011, Caldwell played professional basketball.  Along the way he was the MVP in the Las Vegas Eurobasket Summer League, All-Import First Team while playing in Liepaja, Latvia, where he led the Baltic League with 19.1 points per game.  His team won the Latvian Cup.
 
He also played in the Ukraine, in the Spanish Gran Canarias Summer League where he was MVP before moving to Cyprus where his Limassol team won the Cyprus Cup and he was an all-star and the 3-point shooting champion.  He also had a stint with the Dallas entry in the NBA Development League.
 
Caldwell now is the founder and operator of Fundamental Basketball, an organization for youth basketball and volleyball camps.
