Please note that there are two primary and two secondary versions of our institution’s name: Upon first reference, we are the University of the Incarnate Word. After that, UIW is the preferred name. Incarnate Word and Incarnate Word Cardinals are also available as secondary terms. Any other reference, including Incarnate Word University or Incarnate Word College, is incorrect. Additionally, all teams, including women’s athletic teams, are known as Cardinals.
