Who Are We
The UIW Letterwinners Association is a community of alumni comprised of former student-athletes and student support staff who have earned a letter by participating in a varsity sport at UIW/Incarnate Word College.
Whether you graduated from Incarnate Word College or the University of the Incarnate Word, as a Crusader or a Cardinal, you are a part of the rich athletic tradition of this University. The collective contributions and achievements of all Letterwinners are integral to the heritage of this institution. The membership of the UIW Letterwinners Association span all eras of athletics and represents all Incarnate Word collegiate teams.

Why was the UIW Letterwinners Association established?
The UIW Letterwinners Association serves four distinct, yet related, purposes:
- Preserve the history and traditions of UIW Athletics.
- Further engage and cultivate stronger relationships with our Letterwinners.
- Celebrate the legacy of all our Letterwinners by honoring their achievements.
- Directly support the efforts and activities of all UIW student-athletes now and in the future.

How do I join the UIW Letterwinners Association?
UIW Letterwinners who currently contribute to the Cardinals Club are already active members. An annual contribution of at least $50 to the Cardinals Club by a UIW Letterwinner grants active member status. By supporting the Cardinals Club, whether to the Athletics General Fund or a specific sport program of your choice, UIW Letterwinners Association members make a lasting impact on current, and future UIW student-athletes. Active members are provided unique access and experiences as well as special events and programming throughout the year.

1987 - Became a NAIA institutional member
1996Â - Incarnate Word College became University of the Incarnate Word
1999 - NCAA Division II members & joined the Heartland Conference
2004 - Mascot changed from Crusaders to Cardinals
2009 - Started Football
2010Â - Joined the Lonestar Conference
2013 - NCAA Division I members & joined the Southland Conference
2017 - Completed NCAA Division I Transition
2022 - Women's Basketball earns AQ to NCAA March Madness
2022 - Football reaches FCS Playoffs Semifinal
2024 - Artistic Swimming wins USA Collegiate National Championship
First UIW National title in history
