The principal in the Texas Orthopedic Shoulder and Sports Surgery facility in San Antonio, and a clinical associate professor of Orthopedic surgery at the University of Texas Health Science Center, Dr. Bud Curtis is better known to literally hundreds of Incarnate Word student-athletes as the man overseeing their well being.  The chief athletic physician for UIW athletes, Dr. Curtis has been on staff at the University since 1988, work that he continues today. 

A native of Gonzales, Texas, Dr. Curtis earned his undergraduate degree at the University of Texas in Austin before moving to San Antonio for his doctor of medicine degree in at the University of Texas Health Science Center.  He performed his internship and residence in Orthopedic surgery at the same facility.  Thereafter he had a fellowship in shoulder surgery before going to New York City for a clinical sabbatical at New York Orthopedic Hospital. 

Returning to San Antonio, he has been an Orthopedic consultant and team physician for a wide variety of professional teams such at the Spurs, Missions, football Riders and the San Antonio entry in the Canadian Football League.  He too has been associated with numerous public school districts in the area--San Antonio, Boerne, Harlandale, Judson, Northside.  He has worked with the US Swimming Team and the US Junior National Swimming Team.
