Hall of Fame
Holly Barrow came to Incarnate Word in the fall of 1993 as a widely-recruited soccer player out of San Antonio’s Madison High School. A year later, in 1994, she had proved herself to the point of being named an NAIA All-American. That season found UIW graduating its top scorers so for the 1995 season Holly moved up top to play forward full time. Again, she was NAIA All-America along with being voted NAIA National All-Tournament, while playing a new position. After her senior year of 1996 she again was NAIA All-America, for the third straight year.
Despite playing up top fulltime for one-half of her Incarnate Word career, she is to this day the fifth all-time leading scorer in UIW history and by a wide margin over the sixth leading point-producer. Also, she remains Top Six in three other UIW statistical categories, games played (6), goals scored (5) and assists (5). Over the four years Holly played at Incarnate Word the women’s soccer teams were a cumulative 48-22-4 and played in two NAIA national tournaments.
In addition to her All-American honors, Holly was a GTE Academic All-District performer and was a conference all-academic athlete. Back on the soccer field, she three times was all-region and once all-district. Twice she was the Heart of Texas Conference most valuable player and three times was all-conference.
In 1997 she graduated with a bachelor’s degree in physical education.
After her playing time was completed, she remained on the Incarnate Word campus to work two years as the soccer team’s assistant coach. In the spring of 2000, she completed work for her master’s degree in sports management. Between 2002 and 2006 she was a pre-school teacher in both Lubbock and Austin and for a year she worked as a sales representative for Innisbrook.
Currently Holly is deeply involved with the activities of her family centering on their church where she teaches both Sunday school and vacation Bible school. Not ever being too far away from her sport of soccer, she is a coach for NEYSO U10 and U7 Spirit Girl’s Soccer. Additionally she is a volunteer for the Parent Teachers Association at a local elementary school.
