Brooke Hopkins departed Incarnate Word unique in several areas. In the fall of 1999, after the University made the switch from the NAIA to the NCAA Division II, she became the first UIW student-athlete to be voted All-American (NSCAA), an honor which she repeated in 2001 In 1998, she had been All-American as her team competed in the NAIA. Then, she departed UIW as the all-time leading scorer in women’s soccer with 238 points and as the all-time leading goal-producer (107), marks that likely will stand the tests of time. Three consecutive years she was the Heartland Conference most valuable player, a feat that is yet to be matched.
After earning her bachelor’s degree in 2001 and her master’s degree in 2003, she was a member of the US National “B” team while experiencing trials with the New York and Washington squads of the WUSA. She has been a soccer coach at all levels from elementary schools in San Antonio to the women’s program at Columbus State University in Georgia. Currently, she is a coaches education and training manager for the Washington Special Olympics in Seattle, Wash. And, she continues to coach youth soccer teams in that city.
Not to lose her touch on the pitch, Brooke is playing soccer for the Seattle Sounder Saints of the W-League, the highest level of competition in the area.
