She made the first basket in the then sparkling, shiny, new Alice P. McDermott Convocation Center gymnasium.  The then-Crusaders moved into the building in the fall of 1989 and on November 27 they hosted Sul Ross in a women’s-men’s doubleheader.  Because the women played first, Lynn had the honors.  She finished the evening with 25 points.

Later in the spring of that season, 1989-1990, Lynn Costanza would make a game-ending three-pointer as then-IWC defeated Texas Lutheran and advanced to the NAIA district playoffs for the first time in school history.

Back on November 21, 1987, Lynn would drop 40 on Judson of Alabama.  That is a single game mark that remains on the Incarnate Word record book.

A product of Spring Klein Oak High School, Costanza came to Incarnate Word after spending time at Texas / San Antonio.  In her three years at IWC she posted her name in the school record book time and time again.  In fact, as she is going into the UIW Hall of Fame, she remains first in nine different statistical categories—season points (536), game points (40), season scoring average (19.1), season field goals (212), game field goals (18), career rebounds (900), season rebounds (351), and season rebound average (12.5).

As a reward for her efforts she was voted All-America in 1988 by the National Little College Athletic Association, the umbrella group under which IWC played at the time.

At that same time Incarnate Word was transitioning to the NAIA and she won honors from that national organization.  She was all-district three years, and in 1988 she was 12th in the nation in rebounding.  Also in 1988 she was honored as an NAIA Academic All-District student.  At the same time the Heart of Texas Conference came into being and three years she was all-league.

Lynn received her bachelor of business degree in the spring of 1990 with a major in fashion merchandising.  She currently is an Adidas/CIP marketing representative and she is an exercise instructor at Triton Sports Center.
