She came up two short of a milestone for women’s basketball at Incarnate Word.  But a near miss didn’t keep Ify Mora from earning female athlete of the week at UIW for the time November 18 to November 24.
 
What she missed was a triple-double.  Mora led the Cardinals in one game with her 21 points, her 14 rebounds and her eight assists.  A triple-double is a rare time in which a player hits double figures in three different statistical categories for a single contest.
 
In the two-game week she had double-doubles both nights as she averaged 17.0 points while shooting .313 from the field.  She was impressive at the free throw line in the week making 24 of 30 attempts for a mark of .800.  She also averaged 12.0 rebounds and 6.0 assists.
 
Mora is a senior guard from Grand Prairie.  She graduated from Arlington Bowie High School.  She is studying biology and pre-med at Incarnate Word.
 
She will be on the ballot at year’s end as UIW coaches and athletic administrators select a female athlete of the year.
