University of the Incarnate Word Athletics

WHITNEY WALTRIP
 
Amongst the cold days and the wet days Incarnate Word’s softball team managed to complete a pair of games and Whitney Waltrip was the batting leader for the Cardinals.  She is the female athlete of the week for Marcy 3 to March 9.
 
In the two contests she went 3-4 at the plate.  Among the three safe hits was a home run.  She drove in four teammates and scored twice herself.
 
The major reason for the low number of official at-bats in two games was the fact that Waltrip collected four bases on balls from the opposing pitchers.  She did not strike out in the two games.
 
Waltrip is a senior from Orangevale, Calif.  She went to Casa Robles High School.  At Incarnate Word she is majoring in business with a minor in criminal justice. 
 
She will be on the ballot in May when UIW coaches and athletic administrators select a female athlete of the year.
