University of the Incarnate Word Athletics

Sarah Leal pitched a complete game at the University of Houston last week earning her second victory of the season for the softball team so she has been named the UIW Female Athlete of the Week.  Leal is now eligible for the UIW Female Athlete of the Year award that is voted on by UIW coaches and sports administrators.

Leal gave up two runs in the second inning to the Cougars, but was able to shut them down after that.  She scattered nine hits with only one walk.  The Cardinals took the lead in the top of the seventh inning and she was able to hold on to earn her first career complete game victory.

Leal is a sophomore psychology major from Kyle, TX.  She attended Hays High School.
