David Moore outdid himself by breaking several records over the course of the weekend to be this week’s UIW Male Athlete of the Week. Moore helped lead the Cardinals to a second place finish in the 2016 CCSA Championships. With this honor, Moore is now in the running for UIW Male Athlete of the Year, voted on by the UIW coaches and the sports administration.
The San Antonio junior took control of the 400-yard individual medley when he broke his previous school record, the meet record, and the CCSA record with a time of 3:45.24. According to head coach Phil Davis, that time is the 14th fastest in all of NCAA. He also won the 200-yard individual medley and took second in the 200-yard breaststroke.Â
Moore and the Cardinals will finish their season starting March 3 for the American Short Course Championships in Austin, TX. It will be a three-day event.
