University of the Incarnate Word Athletics

Bridget Stein had a great week in the pitching circle for the UIW softball team and she is this week’s UIW Female Athlete of the Week.  With this selection, Stein is now in the running for the UIW Female Athlete of the Year award that is voted on by UIW coaches and sports administration.
 
Stein lifted the Cardinals to a three-game sweep of Southland Conference rival Houston Baptist over the weekend.  It was the first time in the program’s history that they have swept a conference opponent for the season.
 
In Friday’s first game, Stein came on in relief allowing three hits and one run in 2.2 innings to earn a save.  In the second game, Stein came in to start the third inning and shut down the Huskies.  She pitched the final 5.0 innings without allowing a run and earned the win to raise her record to 6-6 on the season.
 
Stein is a junior college transfer from Brenham, Texas who played at San Jacinto College.  She is studying business administration.
