University of the Incarnate Word Athletics

Cole Solis of the UIW men’s golf team is this week’s UIW Male Athlete of the Week for his performance at the James S. Litz Memorial Tournament last week which helped Incarnate Word finish second. Solis is now in the running for the UIW Male Athlete of the Year award that is voted on by UIW coaches and sports administrators.

In the first day of the tournament, Solis sat in first place after the 36 holes.  With rounds of 70 and 73, he was also 1-over par with 143 strokes.   He was unable to hold onto the lead in the final round, but he finished two strokes short of the leaders in fourth place after carding a 70-73-75=218.  He was the top finisher among 13 Cardinal players.

Solis is a freshman from San Antonio and attended the Episcopal School of Texas.  He is an economics major.
