University of the Incarnate Word Athletics

It was the first swimming meet of the year and Incarnate Word’s Thiago Parravicini did not miss a beat from last year.  As a result he is the UIW male athlete of the week for the time October 14 to October 20.

In the dual meet against Texas A&M of the Big 12 Conference, Parravicini swam his specialties, the backstroke events.  He won the 200 in a time of 2:04.91 and finished second in the 100-breaststroke.  He then swam anchor on the winning UIW team in the 200-freestyle relay.

A year ago Parravicini finished third in the 200-breaststroke at the NCAA Division II National Championships.  Leading up to that meet he had set UIW marks in both the 100 and 200-breaststrokes.  Six times at meets last season he won races in one or both of those events.

Parravicini is a senior from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and he is studying business management at Incarnate Word.  He now will be on the yearend ballot when coaches and athletic administrators at UIW name a male athlete of the year.
