Rainy Castaneda

In the final regular season meet of her career, Rainy Castaneda ran away from the competition as she led the Cardinals to a victory at the UIW Fall Invitational.  She is the UIW co-Female Athlete of the Week for her efforts and is eligible for the UIW Female Athlete of the Year award that is voted on by UIW administrators and coaches.
 
Castaneda covered the Live Oak City Park 6K course in 21:30 and won by 19 seconds.  The Cardinals won the Division I team title over A&M-Corpus Christi, UT Rio Grande Valley and Texas State.  Overall, she was the top finisher among 13 teams of all different levels.
 
Castaneda is a senior government major from Laredo, TX.  This is the second time she has won the UIW Female Athlete of the Week award this year.
