Scott Shaw

Scott Shaw won the Texas Wesleyan Invitational last week for his first career victory while leading the men’s golf team to a second place finish.  He is the UIW Male Athlete of the Week for September 14-20. He is now in the running for UIW Male Athlete of the Year, which will be voted on by the UIW Coaches and Athletic Administration at the end of the year.

Shaw entered the final round at the Hawks Creek Golf Club with a huge lead of six strokes and pushed through to finish with a 1-under par 71 on the par-72, 6898-yard course. He ended up with an 8-under par total for the 54-hole tournament.  He took control of the tournament with a 7-under par 65 in the second round.  That tied the school record for lowest score against par.

Shaw is a four-year member of the UIW men’s golf team and is from San Antonio, TX where he graduated from Churchill High School.  He is pursuing a degree in business administration.
