ALONA KYSELOVA
 
The Incarnate Word swimming and diving teams were in two meets between December 29 and January 3 and for Alona Kyselova it just got better and better.  Consequently she is the UIW female athlete of the week and now will be on the yearend ballot when coaches and athletic administrators name the female athlete of the year.
 
Everything was in California and it started at the four-way meet hosted by San Diego State.  First off she swam third on the UIW 200-medley relay team which finished down the line.  She then began her three individual events.
 
In the 200-freestyle she was eighth in 1:55.78 which was just 3.70 seconds behind the winner.  In the 500-freestyle she moved up with a third in 5:09.77.  Finally she won the 200-IM in 2:06.56 and that was an omen for what was to transpire five days later.
 
At a meet hosted by California-San Diego, she swept the boards. 
 
She was first in the 1,650-freestyle with a pool record 17:03.32.  Next, she touched first in the 200-breaststroke in 2:18.74.  Kyselova hit the trifecta by winning the 400-IM in 4:21.19 for yet another pool record.
 
Kyselova is a freshman at UIW.  She hails from Kiev in the Ukraine.
