University of the Incarnate Word Athletics

At the prestigious University of Texas Invitational swim meet Lana Nguyen had a large presence for Incarnate Word and as a result she is the UIW female athlete of the week for the period December 3 to December 8.
 
Nguyen is a freestyle specialist in the pool and in Austin she was on five relay teams and was in three individual events.
 
All five of the UIW relay teams finished in the top 16 entries in the gigantic event featuring Division I teams from all across the nation.  The Cardinals had one 11^th place finish to go with one at 12, two at 13 and one in 16^th.
 
She led off the 200 and 400-freestyles.  She anchored the 200 and 400-medley teams and she swam third on the 11^th place 800-freestyle.
 
Individually, while not in the top finishers, Nguyen swam the 50, 100 and 200-freestyles.
 
She is a junior from Kiev, Ukraine.  She is studying interior design at Incarnate Word.  She will be on the yearend ballot when Cardinals coaches and athletic administrators select a female athlete of the year.
