DENZEL LIVINGSTON
Denzel Livingston saved his best for last in a two-game basketball week for Incarnate Word and thus he is the Cardinals male athlete of the week for December 15 to December 21.
At Grand Canyon he made a jump shot with 22 second left to win the game. At Kansas City he scored 16 of his 30 in the three overtime periods.
UIW won both times on the road. The first game was the regulation 40 minutes and he played 38. The second contest went three overtimes, 55 minutes, and Livingston played all 55. Added up that’s 95 minutes and he played 93.
He also had back-to-back 30-points or better games for the first time in his career. He led the team both times with 34 at Grand Canyon and 30 at Missouri-Kansas City.
He posted a double-double at Kansas City with team highs of the 30 points and 11 rebounds. He also led in that game with four assists and four blocks.
For the week he shot 21-40 from the field for .525 including 4-11 on three’s for .364. He was a total 18-27 at the free throw line for .667. He averaged 32.0 points, 8.5 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 2.0 blocks, 1.0 steals.
Livingston is a 6-4 senior guard from Houston’s Waltrip High School. He is studying general business at UIW.
