If one shot can make a player of the week then Incarnate Word’s Kyle Hittle is the man for December 8 through December 14.
 
The Cardinals played two basketball games during that span but it was the final shot attempt of game two which caught the attention of the college world.  UIW went to Nebraska and won.  The victory was the first-ever for UIW over a power five conference opponent—in this case the Big 10.  It is arguably the biggest win in UIW men’s basketball history.
 
Down five with just 33 seconds remaining in the game the Cardinals battled to within one.  After a Nebraska turnover the baseline inbounds pass went to Hittle on the left side.  Two bounces and Hittle launched his left-handed jumper which swished with two seconds remaining and the Cardinals celebrated.
 
Hittle finished the night with 18 points on five of seven shooting including three of four beyond the arc.
 
For the week, he averaged 11.5 with 6.0 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.0 steals.
 
This is the second time in three weeks for Hittle to be the UIW male athlete of the week.  He is a 6-5 junior guard out of New Braunfels High School.  He is studying finance at Incarnate Word.
