Samantha Swarts came off the Incarnate Word bench in the lone game played by the Cardinals between December 8 and December 14 to earn female athlete of the week honors.
 
The Cardinals ultimately defeated Texas Lutheran handily but the game was close at halftime.  While she played in the first period Swarts turned in a superlative second half on the way to 28 total minutes of action. 
 
She had her personal season high of 12 points including 10 in the decisive final 20 minutes.  She also collected her personal season high 14 rebounds to lead the team in that category.  That was her first double-double at UIW—10 points, 12 boards.
 
She also had four assists, her season high, to go with a steal and a blocked shot.
 
Swarts is a junior forward from Marble Falls’ Faith Academy.  She is studying criminal justice at UIW.  She will be on the ballot next May when UIW coaches and athletic administrators vote for a female athlete of the year.
