CELESTE MORGEN
Celeste Morgen had a long day when Incarnate Word traveled to swim at LSU, a strong Division I program. She made the most of the opportunity and is the UIW female athlete of the week for November 10 to November 16.
At the dual meet with LSU, Morgan was in four events, two individual and two relays.
In the 200-breaststroke she touched the wall first with a time of 2:21.62 which was more than four seconds ahead of the second place finisher.
Continuing in her specialty event, the breaststroke, she was in the 100 and finished second at 1:05.04 which was just a half a second behind the winner.
In two relay events she swam the third leg both times. In the 200-medley she and her Cardinals teammates were third with a time of 1:47.43. Later, in the 200-freestyle, Morgen and three others came in second with a time of 1:38.78.
Morgen is a senior from San Antonio’s Johnson High School. She is studying nutrition at UIW. She will be on the ballot next May when Incarnate Word coaches and athletic administrators name a female athlete of the year.
