University of the Incarnate Word Athletics

Austin Wylie was the top finisher for the Cardinals at the 2016 Southland Conference Men's Golf Championships and he is this week's UIW Male Athlete of the Week.  He is now eligible for the UIW Male Athlete of the Year award that is voted on by UIW coaches and sports administrators.

Wylie posted back-to-back even par rounds to open up the conference tournament and fired a 77 in the final round to finish in ninth place overall.  It was the highest finish ever for a UIW golfer since joining the Southland Conference.  He tallied 11 birdies in the tournament and finished the season with the top scoring average for the Cardinals at 73.85 strokes per round.  He was named all-Southland Conference third team.

Wylie is a senior from Boerne, Texas who is scheduled to graduate with an accounting degree in May.
