Senior men's basketball player Kyle Hittle was named the UIW Male Athlete of the Week for his performances in a pair of wins.  He is now eligible for the UIW Male Athlete of the Year award that is voted on by UIW coaches and sports administrators.

Hittle led the Cardinals to a pair of victories and bolted the team to third place in the conference standings heading into the final week of the regular season.  He started the week with a 20-point, five-assist, four-rebound showing in a 97-91 win at Houston Baptist, and followed it up with a 30-point, seven-rebound performance in an 89-70 win over Lamar.  He shot 60 percent (9-for-15) from behind the arc while knocking down 18-of-27 from the field.

Hittle has been on a recent hot streak for the Cardinals scoring.  He is averaging 21.6 points per game over the last five outings.  He is shooting 65.5 percent from the field and has gone 20-of-32 from three-point range during that stretch.
