SHAINA GARZA

Shaina Garza is the UIW female athlete of the week following her play in a four-match week at the Missouri State tournament.

The seven-day time slot was September 1 to September 7 and she is now eligible for female athlete of the week to be voted next May by Incarnate Word coaches and athletic administrators.

As an outside hitter she had double figure kills in three of the four matches and she led the team twice.  On defense she had double figure digs in two matches leading the team both times.  She averaged 10.2 digs to lead all Cardinals not named “libero”.

And, Garza twice led her team in points scored per match averaging 10.9.  Points earned are positive items—a kill, a service ace, a block—totaled together.

Garza is a sophomore from San Antonio’s Warren High School.  She is a physical therapy major at UIW.
