University of the Incarnate Word Athletics

Lana Nguyen is going to the on the yearend ballot when Incarnate Word coaches and athletic administrators name a female athlete of the year.  For the third time she is the female athlete of the week; this time from January 13 to January 19.
 
It was a dual meet with the University of Houston in the UIW Barshop Natatorium.  She was in four events, two individual and two relays, and she came home first in all four for a personal sweep.
 
Individually she dominated the short freestyle events.  She won the 50 in a time of 23.89 and then captured first in the 100-meters in 52.85.
 
She swam third on the first place 200-medley relay team which had a time of 1:47.49.  She then turned her attention to the 400-freestyle relay where the Cardinals were first in 3:37.22.  She swam the second leg for UIW foursome.
 
Nguyen is a junior from Kiev, Ukraine.  She is studying interior design at Incarnate Word.
