University of the Incarnate Word Athletics

Broderick Reeves lit up the football scoreboard November 2 as Incarnate Word won a road game at McMurry. At the same time he etched his name onto the UIW record book in several categories while earning male athlete of the week at Incarnate Word.

He set four school records for a single game topped by his six touchdowns scored and his 36 total points.  He also established a new level at UIW with his 244 yards rushing and his 10.6 yards a carry.

On his way to those new marks he had nine carries of more than 10 yards.  Those included a longest run of 55 yards which produced a touchdown in the third quarter.

He saved his best for last.  Entering the fourth quarter the Cardinals were down 11 points.  He rushed seven times for 78 yards, four of which were for more than 10 yards.  He scored three of his six touchdowns in the fourth capped by a 17-yard burst for the game winner with just 36 seconds remaining.

It is no surprise that Reeves is a running back.  He is a freshman from Mexia and is undecided about his major at UIW.  He now will be eligible for male athlete of the year when Incarnate Word coaches and athletic administrators vote for that honor next May.
