University of the Incarnate Word Athletics

Austin Jordan would have won the golf tournament if it hadn’t been for the three guys playing on their home course.  As a result Jordan is the Incarnate Word male athlete of the week for October 20 to October 26.

The final totals had him tied for fourth in the event which included a predominance of Division I teams and hosted by New Mexico State University.  His scores added up to 207 for the three rounds putting him but one stroke off the winning mark of 206 carded by three members of the NMSU squad.

For two rounds Jordan led the pack.  His first day 67 was atop the leader board and that combined with a second round of 68 kept him ahead.  The third day his one-over 72 allowed those three home guys to pass him.  He was one of only seven in the 65-player field to have two rounds with scores less than 70.

Jordan is a senior from Rainbow and he is studying economics at UIW.  He will be on the ballot at year’s end when UIW coaches and athletic administrators name a male athlete of the year.
