Schedule of Events
FRISCO, Texas – Competing in their final meet before the Southland Conference Indoor Championships, the UIW track and field teams will take part in the Dunamis Sports Group College Classic II on Friday from the Ford Center at The Star, the practice facility of the Dallas Cowboys.
OPENING BLOCKS
A record 54 schools will take part in the meet: Wiley, Langston, Austin College, Texas A&M-Commerce, Lamar, Northwestern Oklahoma, Northwestern State, Southwest Christian, Jarvis Christian, Paul Quinn, McNeese, Central Oklahoma, Eastern Oklahoma State, Oklahoma Panhandle, Oklahoma, Oklahoma Baptist, Oklahoma Christian, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma State, Oklahoma Wesleyan, Southeastern Oklahoma, Southwestern Oklahoma, South Plains, Barton County CC, Garden City CC, Mesa CC, New Mexico, New Mexico JC, New Mexico State, Abilene Christian, Trinity, SMU, Southern Nazarene, Tarlton State, North Texas, Southwest (N.M.), Western Texas College, Western Texas College, UT-Rio Grande Valley, TCU, Stephen F. Austin, Midwestern State, Nicholls, UT-Tyler, Arkansas State, Houston, Wayland Baptist, New Orleans, UT Arlington, Sam Houston State, HBU, Arkansas-Pine Bluff, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, and UIW.
THE LAST LAP
The Cardinals will have a busy day of competition, as 20 student-athletes compete in two events.
Clinton Cole, fresh off of his two school records set two weeks ago at OU, will take part in the 200m, long jump, and will be the third leg in the men's 4x400.
David Gallegos and
Jamari Gilbert will each compete in the 60m and 200m, while the two will part for the third event; Gallegos to the 60m hurdles and Gilbert the first leg of the 4x400.
Andrew Leuthner will compete in the 60m, 200m, and long jump, while
Rodney Littlejohn will take part in four events: 60m, 60m hurdles, long jump, and shot put. The 60m, 200m, and leg 2 of the 4x400m is on tap for
Uchenna Nnaji, while
Collin Sepulveda will compete in the 200m, 400m, and 60m hurdles.
Kentonie Thomas (60m, 400m, 4x400) and
Austen Waters (200m, 400m, 4x400) will also compete in three events.
On the women's side,
Jane Arinze is set for the 60m, 200m, and the long jump, while
Kalia Hendrix is scheduled for the 60m, 200m, and 4x400m.
Victoria Jackson is scheduled for four events: 60m, 400m, triple jump, and 4x400m.
Ashley Joyner (400m, high jump, 4x400m) and
Spring Lucky-Dania (60m hurdles, long jump, triple jump) are scheduled for three events each, while
Tiffani Mays will compete in the 200m, 400m, and 4x400m. Rounding out the team is
McKenna Moses (800m, 60m hurdles, pole vault),
Gracen Odendahl (200m, 400m, 4000 DMR), and
Jasmine Williams (60m, 200m, 4x400).
COMING UP
UIW will take two weeks off to prepare for the 2017 Southland Conference Indoor Championships, held Feb. 22-23 at the Birmingham CrossPlex in Birmingham, Ala.

The Cardinals open the outdoor season at the Rice University Shirley Crowe Heptathlon/Decathlon, held March 14-15. The Cardinals host the UIW Quad March 16-17 at Gayle and Tom Benson Stadium.
