Biography
Southland Conference Third Team (4x100)
2017 (Sophomore): Nnaji crossed the line in 21.68 to finish third in the 200 at the Dunamis Sports Group College Classic II. A few weeks later he ran a personal best of 6.97 in the 60 meters at the indoor conference championships. He had a solid performance overall placing fifth in the 200m with the second fastest time in school history (21.56), and contributing to an eighth place finish in the 4x4. Nnaji's force carried into outdoor season as he claimed a few first place finishes at the UIW Cardinal Quadrangle. The Marshall high school native anchored the 4x100 relay to first with a time of 40.95. He turned around and a ran collegiate best time of 49.01 in the 400m for another first place finish. In addition, he clocked in at 21.08 to place first in the 200 and break the stadium record. His performances earned him Honorable Mention Southland Conference Athlete of the Week. Nnaji competed in the 100m at the Texas State Bobcat Classic and posted a personal best time of 10.59 to add his name to the Cardinal record book. He ran the anchor leg on the 4x100 relay at the outdoor conference championships helping the team to another third place finish,
2016 (Freshman): Nnaji placed third in the 200 meters at the J.D. Martin Invitational. He improved week after week in the 60 and 200 recording his best indoor times of the season at the indoor conference championships. Nnaji was a key member of the 4x100 meter relay. He helped the team run the second fastest time in school history (40.24) at the Texas State Bobcat Classic. He also contributed to a third place finish in the event at the outdoor conference championship.
High School: Nnaji was on the football and track teams at Marshall High School. He was the school's athlete of the year as a senior. He holds the school record in the 100 meters (10.60) and the 200 meters (21.28). He was a second team academic all-district selection. He was the District 6A-27, Area 27-28 and Region 4 champion in the 100 meters and 200 meters as a senior. He finished fourth in the State in the 200 and was ninth in the 100. He ran a time of 7.10 in the indoor 60 meters at the Carl Lewis Invitational.
Personal: Nnaji is the son of Cliff and Rosemary Opara and is studying biochemistry. He has three siblings; Chidinma, Olachi and Izuchi. He was born on November 22, 1997.
