The Incarnate Word women's track and field team saw members compete in two meets, the Texas Relays, hosted by the University of Texas and the Bobcat Invitational, hosted by Texas State.
Isabella Gonzalez-Velasquez and
Lexie Leal were in Austin at the Texas Relays finishing the heptathlon. Gonzalez-Velasquez finished in 13th place, sliding two spots from where she left yesterday, while Leal finished 19th.
Gonzalez-Velasquez finished 12th in the long jump with a distance of 5.33 meters, 15th in javelin after a throw of 31.85 meters, and 8th in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:22.18. Leal placed 19th in long jump and 18th in javelin before posting a DNF in the 800-meter run to wrap up her event.
Emily Shook ran the 5,000-meter event at the Texas Relays and placed 15th with a time of 18:08.96.
Over at the Bobcat Invitational, the Cardinals had participants in the heptathlon, discus throw, pole vault, and 10,000 meters.
Dariana Luna is in sixth in the hepthatlon after four events with her best finish of third coming in the shot put with a distance of 11.56 meters.
Other notable results include second and fourth-place finishes in the 10,000-meter run, a fourth-place finish in pole vault, and a 10th-place finish in discus.
Sophia Keiser ran the distance event in 38:59.20 while Cantor was done in 40:31.85.
Alaine Hernandez was one of two athletes to clear 3.60 meters to tie for third, but she did it on her final attempt and had to settle for fourth.
Fatima Montes threw the discus 39.85 meters for a top 10 finish.
The Cardinals will continue to send athletes to events in both meets as the action continues on Friday.
