COLLEGE STATION, TEXAS – The University of the Incarnate Word men's and women's swimming and diving teams traveled to Texas A&M on Friday night for a dual meet with the Aggies. Both Cardinals teams lost, but put up a good fight. The men lost, 138-98 and the women lost, 139-98. (

The women were led by senior
Tamiris Nascimento (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil/Salesianos) who picked up wins in both the 50 and 100-yard freestyle events. She won the 50 in 23.32 while
Meghann McGoldrick (San Antonio/Churchill HS) was third in a time of 24.12. In the 200, Nascimento hit the wall in 50.50 and
Lana Nguyen (Kiev, Ukraine) was third in 53.90.
Molly Freeman (Houston/Clear Brook HS) and
Kelsey Cooke (Phoenix, AZ/Thunderbird HS) set season marks in the 1000-yard freestyle and 100-yard backstroke, respectively. Freeman finished second in a time of 10:23.36 while Cooke was also second in 1:00.25.
McGoldrick,
Adrienne Morrow (Hot Springs, AR/Hot Springs HS) and
Kali Lents (San Antonio/Reagan HS) each nab runner-up honors in their events. McGoldrick clocked a 58.69 in the 100-yard butterfly, Morrow finished the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:07.04 and Lents scored 262.28 points in the 3-meter springboard.
The teams are back in action next weekend with the UIW January Invitational on Friday and Saturday at the Palo Alto Natatorium.
