University of the Incarnate Word Athletics

Incarnate Word’s women’s soccer team is well into its Division I Southland Conference schedule and Katie Miller is drawing attention to herself by scoring goals.  As a result she is the UIW female athlete of the week for the period September 30 to October 6.
 
In that time frame the Cardinals played two games against Southland opponents.  They won the first over Oral Roberts before losing the second in double overtime to Central Arkansas.  UIW tallied three goals total and Miller had two of those.
 
She had the sole score, the game-winner against Oral Roberts.  She got the unassisted goal in the 72^nd minute.  Two days later she had a score in the 61^st minute to give UIW a temporary 2-1 lead before Central Arkansas tied it and won it in the second extra period.
 
Now Miller goes onto the list from which UIW coaches and athletic administrators will select a female athlete of the year at the conclusion of all games and matches next spring.
 
Miller is a senior forward from Tyler.   Before Incarnate Word she played at Tyler’s Providence Christian High School and at Tyler Junior College.  She is studying education at UIW.
