GARZA HITS FOR SEASON HIGH
 
Shaina Garza put away a season high kills in one match and averaged double figures in two areas to earn female athlete of the week at Incarnate Word for the time October 21 to October 27.
 
Her name is now on the ballot when at year end UIW coaches and athletic administrators name a female athlete of the year.
 
The season high in kills was 24 against Southeastern Louisiana.  Not only were they her personal high but also a team best for the year.  In that same match she produced 14 digs on defense to go with three block assists at the net.
 
For the week’s action she averaged 18.0 kills, 10.5 digs and 2.0 block assists.  Her hitting mark for the two matches was an impressive .359.
 
On the year Garza now has two matches of 20-plus kills.  She has 11 matches this fall with double figure kills including three of the last five.
 
She is a freshman outside hitter from San Antonio’s Warren High School.  She is studying physical therapy at UIW.
