University of the Incarnate Word Athletics

CONNER HENNESSY

Conner Hennessy won one race at the Coastal Collegiate Swimming Association Classic and it turned out to be the only victory for the Incarnate Word’s men’s swimming team.  It also propelled him to male athlete of the week for the time frame March 23 to March 29.

The meet was in Rockwall and featured a variety of top-level swimming teams from across the country including Brigham Young, Rice, Grand Canyon and Western Kentucky.

Hennessy hit the water in the first men’s individual event of the meet and touched ahead of the field in the 500-freestyle.  His time was 4:25.15.

A freestyle specialist, Hennessy was in three other events.  He was 2nd in the 1,650-free (15:47.87) and third in the 200-free (1:38.62).  He then anchored the UIW 800-freestyle relay team to a second place finish.

He is a junior and is studying psychology at UIW.  He graduated from San Antonio’s Business Careers High School.  He is now eligible for the male athlete of the year award which will be determined in May by Incarnate Word coaches and athletic administrators.
