It was the final meet of the swimming and diving season and Daniel Torres went out with a splash in earning male athlete of the week for March 24 to March 30.
 
It was the CSCAA Classic in Rockwall, Texas, and Torres was a super star with three first place finishes and one second.  The meet was an invitational for Division I swimmers and divers who during the year posted “B” cut performances but did not receive invitations to the NCAA national championships.
 
Torres opened with a victory in the 200-IM in a time of 1:47.00.  He followed that by swimming the third leg on the winning UIW 400-IM relay team; the time was 3:14.28.
 
Then, he led off the winning 200-IM relay team which touched in 1:28.79.  His final event of the meet was the 100-backstroke and his time of 47.91 was second.
 
Torres is a senior from Chihuahua, Mexico.  He is an international business major at UIW.  He will be on the ballot for male athlete of the year as voted by Incarnate Word coaches and athletic administrators.
