University of the Incarnate Word Athletics

It had been four and one-half years since an Incarnate Word woman golfer had won a tournament.  JaImie Bibby did it and she is the UIW female athlete of the week for February 9 to February 15.
 
It was the first women’s tournament of the spring, it was the Jack Brown Memorial, it was in Laredo and Bibby led from the get-go.  She fired rounds of 73-73-71 for 217 which was one stroke over par.  That total gave her a whopping 14-stroke margin over the runner-up.
 
Over the three rounds she posted seven birdies and eight bogies for the final one-over score.
 
And her work gave the Cardinals a gigantic 78-stroke victory over the other competing squads.  The last time a UIW individual won a tournament was in the fall of 2010.
 
Bibby is a sophomore from Corpus Christi.  She is studying psychology at Incarnate Word.  She will be on the ballot in late spring when UIW coaches and athletic administrators select a female athlete of the year.
