ALONA KYSELOVA

In the final swimming meet of the year Alona Kyselova turned in a superb performance to earn female athlete of the week honors at Incarnate Word, for the fourth time this year.

At the Coastal Collegiate Swimming Association Classic Kyselova was entered in seven events, three individual and four relays.

Individually she posted two winning efforts and a second place finish in the other.  Her winners were in the 200-breaststroke (2:15.15) and the 200-freestyle where she set a UIW school record with a time of 1:42.96.  The old mark had stood since March of 2009.

She was second in the 200-IM with a time of 2:00.58.

In the relays, she swam third on both the 400-medley and 400-freestyle relay teams which finished second and fifth respectively.  She was the second leg of the fourth place 800-freestyle team.  Then, she was the third swimmer on the 200-medley team which finished second and established a UIW mark of 1:42.96.

Kyselova is a freshman from Kiev, Ukraine.  She will be on the ballot for female athlete of the year as selected by UIW coaches and athletic administrators at year’s end.
