THE CARDINALS
- The Cardinals are led by senior Imani Robinson averaging 10.7 points per game.
- Robinson has 973 career points as a Cardinal and is on her way to becoming the first player to reach 1,000 points since Ifunanya Mora who played from 2010-14.
- UIW has had three players score in double-digits twice this season.
- Three players scored in double digits in their win over Schreiner Alexis Henry (18), Imani Robinson (13) and Kara Speer (13).
- The Cardinals' win over Schreiner was the team's largest margin of victory since their 96-56 win over Southeastern Louisiana (1/19/17) during the 2016-17 campaign.
- UIW fell to their first Division I opponent this season in cross-town rival UTSA. After trailing by as much as 24 points late in the third quarter, the Cardinals made a push in the fourth quarter holding the Roadrunners to 1-8 from the field and cut the lead to six but ultimately fell.
SCOUTING THE BOBCATS
- The 2018-19 Ohio Bobcats made it to the WNIT Quarterfinals last season where they fell to Northwestern.
- The Bobcats are led by redshirt sophomore Erica Johnson averaging 14.8 points and 7.8 rebounds per game, Johnson has two double-doubles on the season.
- Senior Amani Burke is also averaging 14.8 points per contest.
- Ohio is 3-1 with wins against Marshall, Walsh, American and Ohio State, while their only loss came against Syracuse.
- The Bobcats had three players score in double-figures in their win against Ohio State led by Burke's 23 points.
LAST GAME (W, 55-38 vs TAMIU): SAN ANTONIO – Putting on a second half show for 1,000 cheering students, the University of the Incarnate Word women's basketball team defeated Texas A&M-International, 55-38, for their UIW School Day Game mid-day on Tuesday. The Cardinals were led by sophomore
Macy Ray with 12 points but also had
Kara Speer and
Imani Robinson in double-figures at 10 a piece. Plagued by missed opportunities and turnovers, shooting 26 percent from the field, UIW would trail, 23-19, going into the break. The Cardinals came out in the second half with high energy and hungry to score. A driving layup by Speer, followed by a steal and a fast break layup by Robinson, the Red and Black took control of the game and the lead in the third quarter. Holding the Dust Devils to their lowest scoring quarter of the game in the fourth quarter as the Cardinals added 17 points in the final 10 minutes to win the game 55-38.
UP NEXT: UIW is on the road for the next two games against Colorado State (Nov. 26) and Kansas State (Dec. 3).
