UIW hosts Texas A&M-International

SAN ANTONIO – The University of the Incarnate Word hosts Texas A&M-International on Tuesday morning at the McDermott Center for their UIW School Day Game, tipoff is set for 11 a.m. (CT).
 
UIW has kids aged K-12 from the San Antonio area to cheer on the Cardinals. The students in attendance will receive an educational workbook to participate in activities during the game.

FOLLOW ALONG
THE CARDINALS
  • The Cardinals had three players score in double-digits in their season opener against Schreiner, Alexis Henry (18), Imani Robinson (13) and Kara Speer (13).
  • The Cardinals' win over Schreiner was the team's largest margin of victory since their 96-56 win over Southeastern Louisiana (1/19/17) during the 2016-17 campaign.
  • UIW fell to their first Division I opponent this season in cross-town rival UTSA. After trailing by as much as 24 points late in the third quarter, the Cardinals made a push in the fourth quarter holding the Roadrunners to 1-8 from the field and cut the lead to six but ultimately fell.
  • UIW is led by senior forward Alexis Henry averaging 12.5 points and 5.5 rebounds per game. Henry had a team high 19 points and eight rebounds against Schreiner.
 
SERIES HISTORY
  • UIW holds a 5-0 lead in the series.
  • This is the first encounter for the teams since UIW moved up to Division I.
  • The teams last faced each other Dec. 8, 2012 where the Cardinals would go on to win 77-67.
 
SCOUTING THE DUST DEVILS
  • TAMIU is 2-2 on the season with a two-game winning streak including wins over Northern New Mexico (97-66) and New Mexico Highlands (98-71).
  • The Dust Devils are led by Josselin Geer who averages 15.3 points and 2.3 rebounds and has nine steals and six assists in four games. Geer had a team high 24 points in their win over Northern New Mexico.
  • Nicole Heyn leads the team with 4.3 rebounds per game (14 defensive rebounds) with 15 assists in four games.
 
UP NEXT
UIW is on the road for the next three games against Ohio (Nov. 23), Colorado State (Nov. 26) and Kansas State (Dec. 3).
