A STARR IS BORN
  • Freshman forward Starr Omozee has enjoyed a magnificent beginning to her collegiate career.
  • The Pflugerville HS product has produced two double-doubles while leading the team in minutes (29.8), points (10.5), shooting percentage (.455) and rebounds per game (8.0).
  • Against GCU (11/9/18), she posted 11 points and 15 rebounds, becoming the first freshman not named Imani Robinson to record a double-double in UIW DI history.
  • Set multiple season-highs in her first game at the McDermott Center (vs. Houston, 11/16/18), scoring her second double-double (19 pts, 10 rebs) and making multiple threes in a game for the first time.
  • Omozee also collected a season-best six offensive rebounds as a part of UIW's record breaking 28 offensive rebound performance against Houston.

I-MONEY ROBINSON
  • UIW return seven players from last year's squad, including junior all-conference guard Imani Robinson.
  • Robinson became the first preseason first team All-SLC selection in program history for UIW this fall.
  • The Round Rock native leads the team in assists, with nine, while scoring an average of 8.3 points per game, third best on the team.
  • The junior is coming off a season in which she scored 368 total points, the most of any Cardinal in a single season since joining DI, and the most since 2009/10 (Nia Torru).
  • She has done a significant amount of damage at the line, where she is shooting 84.6 percent. Her prowess as a slasher regularly forces defenses into difficult situations, allowing for her to draw fouls, dish assists or score for herself.

LUNDEN CALLING
  • Junior forward Lunden Henry transferred to UIW from Moberly Area Community College, a team that went 32-1 last season and earned a 3rd overall seed in the NJCAA Division 1 national tournament.
  • Since arriving in the Alamo City, Henry has established herself as the Cardinals leading presence in the paint. She averages 9.0 points per game, on 42.0 percent shooting (15-35).
  • She and her twin sister, Alexis Henry, are the only two Cardinals not to have attempted a three pointer this season.
  • She also averages 6.5 rebounds per game, including a team-best 14 off the offensive glass.

NONCONFERENCE GUANTLET
  • The non-conference schedule is loaded with notable opposition.
  • Nine of the 11 non-conference opponents are coming off winning seasons.
  • The season opener is at Arizona State, a team that reached the second round of the 2018 NCAA Division I Women's Basketball Tournament.
  • That will be one of two games against 2018 NCAA Tournament teams, as UIW visits Minnesota on Dec. 5.
  • South Dakota, Houston, and Rice each took part in the WNIT.
  • Weber State (WBI) also saw postseason play in 2017-18.

SCOUTING SAN DIEGO STATE
  • The Aztecs enter the game off an 11 point victory over Cal State Fullerton Thursday night, 83-72. The win improved their record to 2-1, after they fell to Santa Clara, 60-43, the game prior.
  • ASU hasn't had to rely on bench scoring very often, with three of its starters averaging over 33 minutes per game and 10 points scored.
  • This is the first ever meeting between UIW and SDSU.

UP NEXT
