JUNIOR SESSIONS
 
He rode his own fleet feet to some Incarnate Word football single game records and for his efforts Junior Sessions is the UIW male athlete of the week for the time frame September 23 to September 29. 
 
Now, his name will be on the yearend ballot for male athlete of the year.
 
In the weekend victory over Eastern New Mexico, Sessions was the game’s leading rusher.  He carried the football 14 times for 144 yards.  He scored two touchdowns as the Cardinals won the game by seven points.
 
In the second quarter Sessions took a short pitchout turned the left corner and outran everyone over 89 yards to score.  That distance is now the school record.  Plus, those 89 yards were a major factor in Sessions establishing a new UIW mark for rushing yards average in a single game—10.3.  And, he caught one pass for 14 yards.
 
Down in the fourth quarter he scored again and that proved to be the game winner for Incarnate Word.
 
Sessions is a freshman running back who played high school football at Mesquite.  He is studying business at UIW.
