University of the Incarnate Word Athletics

The Cardinals got their first taste of Division I volleyball and that initial outing was a huge success behind the huge hitting of Angelique Vidaurri.  For her efforts she is the Incarnate Word female athlete of the week for the time period September 16 to September 22.
 
Vidaurri was masterful in a victory over Texas Tech of Division I’s Big Twelve Conference.  She led all hitters with her 23 kills.  More importantly she had but five hitting errors in 43 attempts in the 3-2 UIW win and that translated to a percentage of .419 which is well above average for a any match.
 
In the week, three matches, she had double figure kills twice and twice she led the Cardinals in hitting.  In those matches she had a hitting percentage of .275.  In addition to her hitting achievements she had four block assists and a pair of digs in the three matches, all against Division I opponents.
 
Vidaurri is a sophomore combination middle blocker-outside hitter from San Antonio’s Southwest High School.  She is studying business marketing at UIW.
