University of the Incarnate Word Athletics

This week’s UIW Female Athlete of the Week is Darianne Hale of the softball team. She is now entered into the pool of athletes in the running for UIW Female Athlete of the Year. The award is selected by the UIW coaches and the sports administration.

In the Mississippi Gulf Coast Classic, Hale was one of the main variables for the two wins against IPFW (5-1) and Jackson State (5-4). In the 10 a.m. game against IPFW, she sealed the victory for the Cardinals with a big home run and collected her 3 RBIs in the third inning. She continued to perform well for the Cardinals in the game against JSU with 2 RBIs from a single to left.

Hale is a freshman from Mesquite, Texas and she is undecided on her major.
