Padyn Giebler
After leading the Cardinals to their first road win of the season, Padyn Giebler is this week’s UIW Male Athlete of the Week.  He is now in the running for UIW Male Athlete of the Year, which is voted on by the UIW coaches and the sports administrators.
Giebler, a senior linebacker, was the backbone of the defense in the 16-2 win against the defending Southland Conference champions, Southeastern Louisiana.  With five solo and six total tackles, the Cardinals limited the SLU Lions to 39 rushing yards and forced five turnovers. Giebler closed the game with an interception to raise the team’s record to 5-4 on the season.  He also received the honor of Southland Conference Defensive Player of the Week.
Giebler is an engineering management major from Ivan, TX. He is one of only four players in school history to record 200 career tackles.
