University of the Incarnate Word Athletics

Shawn Johnson put together a pair of strong performances on a West Coast trip for the men’s basketball team last week and that is why he is the UIW Male Athlete of the Week.  He is now eligible for the UIW Male Athlete of the Year award that is voted on by UIW coaches and sports administrators.
 
Johnson was the most consistent player for the Cardinals as they suffered a pair of close losses at Sacramento State and California.  He had 12 points and a team high nine rebounds while knocking down four three-pointers in Sacramento.  He came back with a 16-point, 7-rebound, 3-steal game in Berkeley.  He averaged 14 points and eight rebounds for the week.
 
Johnson is a sophomore engineering management major originally from New Orleans.  He moved to Houston for high school and attended Alief Hastings.
