University of the Incarnate Word Athletics

Derail Green of the men’s basketball team is this week’s UIW Male Athlete of the week as he led the Cardinals in dominating performance against the Abilene Christian Wildcats, 74-60.  Green will join the pool of athletes in the running for UIW Male Athlete of the Year award that is selected by the UIW sports administration and the coaches.

In one of the best all-around games of the season for the Cardinals, Green elevated UIW against ACU with 22 points, shooting 9-of-12 from the field. He scored nearly a point per minute as foul problems in the first half limited him to just 24 minutes overall.  The win was the fourth straight for the Cardinals, a first against Division I competition.

Green is a junior criminal justice and sociology major from Houston, TX.  He is a transfer from Wichita State University.
