Shawn Johnson
This week’s UIW Male Athlete of the week is men’s basketball player Shawn Johnson. He led the Cardinals (7-7, 2-1 SLC) offense with 19 points in a big win against Northwestern State (3-10, 0-3 SLC). Johnson will now be in the running for UIW Male Athlete of the Year which will be voted on by the UIW coaches and sports administrators.
In the team’s only game of the week, Johnson led the Cardinals with 19 points, six rebounds and two blocks. He was a perfect 4-for-4 from three-point range and went 7-for-10 overall from the field. He is the team’s leading rebounder and ranks second in the Southland Conference.
Johnson is a sophomore engineering management major originally from New Orleans, LA. He attended high school in Houston, TX and graduated from Alief Hastings.
