Sarea Alexander started all three games this weekend at the Pepperdine Asics Volleyball Tournament and was the team leader in kills with 22. That is why she was selected to be this week’s female athlete of the week of August 31 to September 6. This will allow Alexander to be in the running for female athlete of the year which will be voted on by the athletic administrators and UIW coaches.
 
Through the weekend in Malibu, Alexander finished with an average of 2.20 kills per set and seven blocks.  In the game against UC Santa Barbara, Alexander was one of the team leaders with eight kills and four blocks. She got her remaining 14 kills against Utah Valley and added two blocks. She was crucial in helping the Cardinals win the third set but they couldn’t hold on and lost in four.
 
The Cardinals will travel to Edinburg, TX to play in the UT-Rio Grande Valley Tournament this week. They will face the host on Friday at 11 a.m. they will continue to play on Saturday with the first game against San Jose State at 11 a.m. and the Southern at 3:30 p.m.
