University of the Incarnate Word Athletics

Josip Smoljan came out on top at the Ron Westbrooks Tennis Invitational this past weekend and that is why he has been selected to be this week’s UIW Male Athlete of the Week. Smoljan is now in the running for UIW Male Athlete of the Year, which will be voted on later this year by the UIW coaches and the Sports Administration.

Smoljan finished undefeated in the pool A singles competition against players from UT Rio Grande Valley, Lamar, and Tyler Junior College.  In the finals, he defeated UIW teammate Joey Vatanadilok in straight sets to take the title.

Smoljan is a senior business administration major from Citluk, Bosnia and Herzegovinia.
